Stu's Genius Project

I believe that this has helped me in several different ways and I plan to keep going through the summer because it has changed how I feel and what I put into my body. This project was very helpful and I thought it was a good idea and could create some cool things. When I first started this I didn't know if I was gonna follow through but now that it's the end I'm glad that I did because I wanna keep doing it and I feel like I learned some good things that are useful for anyone that can create a healthier lifestyle. The Genius Project overall was a solid idea because we were able to get creative and do what we wanted and take our own time on it so I thought it was fun.

I actually had to have sugar this week because I woke up very ill and I could feel the difference that my body had without sugar versus with it. I didn't have much but just enough to get my energy back up. I still drink a lot of water and I got up to 13 glasses this week. I think that water is the difference maker in the way I feel than when I did with sugar. When just drinking water my body feels feels good and hydrated as with sports drinks or soda, I didn't feel as good. I plan to keep working my up but also to keep this going after the class ends because of the way I feel. I think everyone should try it or at least lower sugar intake because it can impose a different level of energy and health on your body.

The no sugar diet that I am going off of is the one that Tom Brady made himself, I can't do everything that he does because he has a personal chef and has access to things that I don't. The water part I follow pretty close, I drink around 12 glasses of water a day, and will increase as the weeks go on, although I have to use the bathroom a lot more... I feel better than when I would drink things like soda or sports drinks. You feel different energy wise and the way your body feels. Hydration is very important and soda honestly won't help with that. Milk is one thing that I didn't know was pretty high in sugar so watching out for that has been pretty tough to start. High fructose corn syrup is in several things ranging from drinks to condiments and it's one of the worst things you could put into your body because it is a sweetener that is way more process than most things. I also have to take time to read labels and make sure that is has low or no sugar so it takes more time to get the things I need. I like this diet because it helps to stay in good shape and it's also pretty interesting to me.

This week, I really went without sugar and it was pretty hard but overall I feel pretty good. I can actually feel the difference. I don't drink a lot of soda but that seems to be one of the highest things in sugar. Yogurt, BBQ Sauce, Ketchup, Fruit Juice, Spaghetti Sauce, Sports Drinks, Chocolate Milk, Granola. These are some surprising foods that are high in sugar and it is hard to stay away from those because you wouldn't think they were that high. I still am working my way up on the glasses of water each day but soon enough i'll get there.

This week, I really just researched things that had the most sugar so I could avoid those and keep working my up to cutting it out overall. I am up to about 15 glasses of water each day and trying to increase to 20 this next week. Although it is tough to continuously watch out for sugar I feel a lot better already.

Hi, I'm Stuart Symington and in my Composition 2 class we are starting a project called the Genius hour. When we were first introduced to this assignment I wasn't sure what to do but when we went through some examples I found one and I am going to cut sugar out of my diet for these six weeks. I think I can complete it in the six week time frame. It is something I have tried and wanted to do but a time frame will help more with with getting it done in the six weeks.
